What looks like a mosquito and is swarming around neighborhoods is actually called a blind mosquito. They are not blind, nor are they mosquitoes but are members of the fly family. Unlike mosquitoes, the blind mosquito females do not bite and they don’t carry diseases, but their sheer numbers make them a nuisance pest. They swarm around your head especially at dusk and may accidentally enter your nose or mouth. If you are walking, biking or jogging with other people, conversations may come to a halt to avoid ingesting one.
